We’ve (long) lost sight of our moral compass

Listen to James O’Brien on LBC talking about Jacob Rees Mogg, after the latter’s comments about the people who died in the Grenfell tower tragedy.

If you don’t know the story, basically Jacob Rees Mogg suggested that it was the tenants of Grenfell Tower’s stupidity that led to their deaths.

“We’ve become so used to tribal warefare, so entwined in binary side-picking, scarf-waving, booing and hurrahing, that we’ve lost sight of our moral compass” O’Brien says.

Christ, he’d have a stroke if he were to listen to what Maltese cabinet ministers and extended government lackeys had to say when Daphne Caruana Galizia was assassinated by car bomb in broad daylight, and what they’ve done to her family since. Or if he heard how how so many Maltese spoke about wanting the tenants of refugee camps in Malta all shot or burned alive.

“He has no business in our sovereign parliament any more, let alone the cabinet or the government” says O’Brien.

Think of that when you realise how people like the truly simple Minister for Simplification Rosianne Cutajar conducts herself:

Think of that when you consider how Jason Micallef (who mocked Daphne’s last words on St Paddy’s day) was only recently given yet another promotion.
